Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Continuing Education (CE) requirement for Kentucky real estate agents?
All licensed real estate sales associates and brokers in Kentucky must complete a minimum of 6 hours of continuing education (CE) each license year. This requirement helps ensure that agents stay up-to-date on the latest laws, regulations, and industry practices.
When is the deadline to complete my 6 hours of CE?
Your CE deadline is December 31st of each calendar year. It's crucial to complete your required hours before this date to avoid penalties and keep your license active.
Do I have to take any specific courses for my CE hours?
Yes. The Kentucky Real Estate Commission (KREC) requires all licensees to take a mandatory 3-hour Law course as part of their 6 hours of CE each year. The remaining 3 hours can be elective courses on a variety of real estate topics. Our CE packages are designed to include both the mandatory and elective hours.
Can I complete my Continuing Education online?
Yes. All of our Kentucky Real Estate College CE courses are 100% online and self-paced. This is the most convenient way to fulfill your annual requirement, allowing you to study from any location with an internet connection, on your own schedule.
How will the Kentucky Real Estate Commission know I've completed my CE?
We handle all the reporting for you! Once you successfully complete your CE courses, we will electronically report your completion to the KREC. This process is typically done within one to three business days, so you can be confident your hours are properly credited.
What happens if I don't complete my 6 hours of CE on time?
If you fail to complete your CE hours by the December 31st deadline, your real estate license will be placed in escrow by the KREC. You will not be able to practice real estate and may be subject to a $1,000 fine. Your license will remain in escrow until you complete the required education and pay any outstanding fees.
Do newly licensed agents need to complete CE?
If you were licensed for the first time after January 1st of the current year, you are exempt from the 6-hour CE requirement for that first year. You will begin the annual CE requirement on January 1st of the following year. This is separate from the 48-hour post-licensing education requirement for new agents.
Can I get an extension for my CE deadline?
No, the KREC does not grant extensions for the December 31st deadline. It is your responsibility to complete the required 6 hours of education on time to maintain your active license.
What if I am a broker? Are my CE requirements different?
No, the continuing education requirement is the same for both sales associates and brokers. You must also complete the annual 6 hours of CE, including the 3-hour mandatory Law course.
What types of elective courses do you offer?
Our elective courses are designed to be relevant and valuable to your career. We offer a wide range of topics, including:
