Is your pre-licensing course approved by the Kentucky Real Estate Commission (KREC)?
Yes, our 96-hour pre-licensing course is fully approved by the Kentucky Real Estate Commission. Our curriculum is designed to meet all state requirements and provide you with the knowledge needed to pass your exams and begin your career.
How long does it take to complete the pre-licensing course?
Our pre-licensing course is completely online and self-paced. The minimum time required by Kentucky state law is 96 hours of education. Since our course is self-paced, you can work through the materials at your own speed, allowing you to complete the hours as quickly as you are able to study and pass the exams.
Can I get my Kentucky real estate license entirely online?
Yes. Kentucky Real Estate College offers a 100% online, self-paced pre-licensing course. All your required education can be completed from the convenience of your home, and you can access the materials 24/7 on any device.
What is the difference between a real estate course final exam and the state licensing exam?
The real estate course final exam is a proctored test you take at the end of our 96-hour course. You must pass this exam to receive your certificate of completion.
The state licensing exam is a separate exam administered by PSI, the official testing provider for the state of Kentucky. This is the final step to earning your license after you have completed your education and background check. You must pass both the national and state portions of this exam to be eligible for licensure.
Do I have to complete the course within a specific timeframe?
With Kentucky Real Estate College, you are automatically given access to the course for six months. This flexible timeline gives you the freedom to study around your own schedule. If you need more time, we do offer course extensions. Please note, the Kentucky Real Estate Commission does require the course to be completed within one year from the date of enrollment.
How much does it cost to get a Kentucky real estate license?
The total cost to get your license includes several components:
- Pre-licensing course ($300-$800): Kentucky Real Estate College offers an affordable, online option for this course. Compare course packages.
- FBI criminal background check fee ($18-$51.25): This is a state-mandated fee.
- PSI licensing exam fee (100): The fee for taking the state and national exam.
- Licensing application fee ($130): A fee paid to the Kentucky Real Estate Commission to process your license application.
- Errors and Omissions (E&O) insurance ($100-$500): A required insurance policy for all licensed agents.
What happens after I complete the pre-licensing course?
After you complete our course and pass the proctored final exam, we will provide you with a certificate of completion. With this certificate, you can schedule your FBI background check and register for the state licensing exam with PSI. Our student support team will guide you through these next steps.
What topics are covered in the 96-hour pre-licensing course?
Our comprehensive course covers all the topics required by the KREC, including:
- Real Estate Principles and Practices
- Kentucky Real Estate Law and Regulations
- Contracts, Financing, and Valuation
- Agency Relationships
- Property Management
- Fair Housing Laws and Ethics
- ...and more!
What if I don't pass the course final exam on my first attempt?
Kentucky law allows for three total attempts to pass the course final exam. If you do not pass on the first try, you will have two more opportunities. We provide resources and support to help you prepare for your retake. If you are unable to pass after the third attempt, you must re-enroll and retake the course.
