HOW TO GET A BROKER LICENSE IN KENTUCKY

FIVE SIMPLE STEPS

Disclaimer: Currently, you can count the 96 hours of Pre-License education toward your required Broker’s license course hours. After the governor lifts the state of emergency in Kentucky, you will have an additional 45 days before the Pre-License education is dropped from your Broker education profile (Effective April 1st, 2020 – Delayed due to COVID-19).


Requirements: You must have your Sales Associate License in Kentucky for at least two years and be working a minimum of 20 hours a week.

Complete 336 hours of approved Kentucky Managing Broker courses

You must complete a 48-hour Broker Management Course and 288 hours of approved Broker Pre-License courses. You can use 9 college credit hours toward your Broker's license (144-course hours), these courses do not have to be in real estate. Or 21 credits from an accredited college with 12 credits in Real Estate.

Complete the course final exam

After you finish the course, you will need to take an online proctored exam and pass with a minimum score of 75%.

Submit the background check requirement

You must submit your fingerprints to the Kentucky State Police or FBI for a criminal background check.  Please click here for more information.

Pass the Kentucky Real Estate Broker Exam

This test is registered through PSI. The exam has 125 questions, and you have 4 hours to complete. There are 50 state-specific questions and 75 general questions on the exam. You will need a 75% or higher to pass.  Click here for more information.

Register with the Kentucky Real Estate Commission

You will have 60 days after you pass your exam to send in your application either in the mail or online. Click here for more information.
