KENTUCKY REAL ESTATE COURSE FAQS

You must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and

  • Register for 96 hours of Pre-Licensing Education
  • Complete the course final exam
  • Submit the background check
  • Pass the Kentucky Real Estate Exam
  • File your license application

You must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

The Kentucky Real Estate Commission requires you to take 96 hours of pre-license education. This covers both national and state specific content.

You must submit your fingerprints to the Kentucky Bureau of Investigation. 

You will take two exams: (1) a final exam through Kentucky Real Estate College and (2) an exam administered by the Kentucky Real Estate Commission. 

Both your final exam and the Kentucky Real Estate Commission's exam require an applicant to score at least a 75% to pass. 

Yes! All agents must have an active Tennessee, Ohio, Florida, or West Virginia real estate license for at least one year before taking the course and take a reciprocity course.  For more information on using the reciprocity process as an agent click here and as a broker click here.

You must have your Sales Associate License in Kentucky for at least two years and be working a minimum of 20 hours a week and

  • Complete 336 hours of approved Kentucky Managing Broker courses
  • Complete the course final exam
  • Submit the background check
  • Pass the Kentucky Real Estate Broker Exam
  • File your license application

Our pre-license courses are the first step towards any niche in real estate, including commercial real estate. In Kentucky, you do not need a separate license for commercial real estate.Â
